These last couple of days have been pretty rough, Ellas lungs are giving her some trouble. She reached to 100% oxygen. Leaving no room for emergency. Her lungs are very damaged with a lot of scar tissue. The vent helps her breath but at the same time damages the new lung tissue that tries to grow, making it harder and harder for her to breath. They tried a dose of surfactent. The doctor didn't think that it would work because her lungs are so bad but decided to try it anyways because it has little side effects. Unfortunately it didn't work. So our next thing to try was steroids. They gave a dose of that to her Thursday morning at 3am. Later that morning they were already starting to work. She came down on her oxygen from 100% to 80% . We were so happy that it was working for her. All day Thursday she kept going farther down on her oxygen. Tonight she was at 52% and doing awesome. Doctor McAdams wants her to continue doing good so he can get her off the vent and onto seapap. One of the side effects is that the steriods make it harder to tell if she has an infection of any kind. I hope and pray she won't get anything. She is 29weeks and weighing in at 1lb 14oz. Almost to 2lbs. YAY! For high calorie formula mixed with breast milk. We can finally tell she's growing. She also gets her picc line taken out tonight. I'm so greatful for prayer that the steriods are working for her and helping her. She's such a little fighter.
